Getting Started with FxPro on PC in Thailand
To trade forex and CFDs on a desktop computer in Thailand, you can download and install one of FxPro's four trading platforms. The process takes about 10 minutes: create an account, verify your identity, fund in Thai baht (THB), and install the platform. FxPro services Thai clients via its offshore entity FxPro Global Markets Limited (SCB Bahamas), with leverage up to 1:200 depending on the instrument. No local Thai licence exists, but retail trading through an international broker is not prohibited under Thai law. Below we cover the practical steps and financial logistics.
FxPro Desktop Platforms Compared
FxPro offers four desktop applications, each with different strengths. The table summarises the key differences you need to know before downloading.
| Platform | Key Features | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| MT4 | Industry-standard, custom indicators, expert advisors, 1-second chart intervals | Automated trading and classic forex traders |
| MT5 | More timeframes, depth of market, built-in economic calendar, multi-asset backtesting | Traders who need more instruments and advanced analysis |
| cTrader | Level II pricing, intuitive interface, cAlgo for algorithmic trading, raw spreads | Spread-sensitive traders and scalpers |
| FxPro Edge | Proprietary platform, web-based and desktop, one-click trading, advanced order types | Traders who prefer a broker-specific interface |
All platforms support the same account types (Standard, Raw+, cTrader, Elite, VIP) and allow trading in forex, indices, shares, metals, energies, and crypto CFDs. Minimum deposit is USD 100 or equivalent in THB via bank transfer.
How to Download and Install FxPro on Your PC
Register a live or demo account on the FxPro website. You will need a Thai national ID (13-digit) or passport, and proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, or tabien baan within 3–6 months).
During registration, select your base currency (USD, EUR, GBP are available; THB base is not verified). Choose your account type – Standard (no commission, variable spreads) or Raw+/cTrader (raw spreads + per-lot commission).
After approval, log in to the client portal and navigate to the "Platforms" section. Download the installer for MT4, MT5, cTrader, or FxPro Edge (Windows versions available).
Run the installer, enter your account credentials, and you are ready to trade.
No special hardware is required – a standard Windows PC with internet connection works. The platforms are also available for Mac via compatibility layers.
Funding Your Account in Thai Baht
As a Payments Pragmatist, the funding process is where the real detail matters. Thai clients can deposit and withdraw using local methods. The table below outlines the typical options and timelines.
| Method | Deposit Time | Withdrawal Time | Fees | Min Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thai bank transfer (Bangkok Bank, Kasikornbank, SCB, Krungthai, Krungsri) | 1–5 business days | 1–5 business days | Varies by bank; broker charges none | ~USD 100 (approx. 3,600 THB) |
| Visa/Mastercard | Instant or 1–24 hours | 2–5 business days | Possible 1–3% fee from issuer | ~USD 100 |
| E-wallets (e.g., TrueMoney) | Instant to 1 hour | 1–24 hours | Low or zero (check broker) | ~USD 100 |
FxPro supports THB funding via bank transfer. No standard deposit bonus is offered, so the full amount goes to your trading balance. For withdrawals, the same method is usually required (bank transfer to your Thai account). Note that PromptPay is not listed as a supported method in FxPro's current Thailand offering – you must use traditional bank wires or cards.
Regulatory Context for Thai Traders
FxPro is not licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Thailand nor the Bank of Thailand. Thai clients are onboarded via the SCB Bahamas entity. This is standard practice because Thailand does not have a retail forex/CFD broker licence category – all international brokers serving Thai residents operate offshore. The SEC maintains an Investor Alert list of unlicensed operators, but as of mid-2026 no pure forex broker has been specifically named on that list. What matters when choosing an international broker is the strength of its home regulator. FxPro holds licences from the FCA (UK), CySEC (Cyprus), FSCA (South Africa), and others, though the entity serving Thailand falls under the Bahamas (SCB). For maximum protection, look for brokers with segregation of client funds and negative balance protection from a top-tier regulator. FxPro operates a no-dealing-desk execution model, which reduces conflict of interest.
Tax Treatment of Forex/CFD Profits
Profits from forex and CFD trading are classified as ordinary assessable income under Thai tax law. There is no separate capital gains rate. The progressive personal income tax rates apply (0% up to 150,000 THB, 5% to 35% above 5,000,000 THB). Since 1 January 2024, foreign-sourced income remitted into Thailand in the same year it is earned is taxable (Departmental Instruction Por.161/162). A relief measure proposing a two-year window was discussed in 2026 – verify current status with the Revenue Department. You must file an annual PIT return (PND 90/91) by 31 March if your total assessable income exceeds the exemption threshold. Keep trade records in THB equivalent for your tax filing.
Practical Risks Before You Trade
| Risk Factor | What It Means for You |
|---|---|
| Offshore regulation | Your funds are held under Bahamas jurisdiction, not Thai law. In case of dispute, you rely on the broker's dispute resolution process. |
| Bank transfer delays | Wires can take 1–5 business days, so plan your margin accordingly. |
| No deposit bonus | You won't get extra trading capital; all funds are your own. |
| Leverage up to 1:200 | High leverage amplifies both profits and losses. Use risk management. |
| Exchange control | Thai banks may ask for purpose codes when sending funds abroad. Stay within the USD 5,000,000/year limit for portfolio investment. |
Where FxPro Stands for Thai Traders
Right for you if
You want a long-established broker (since 2006) with a wide selection of desktop platforms and the ability to fund in THB via bank transfer. You prefer no-dealing-desk execution and are comfortable with an offshore entity that operates under SCB Bahamas regulation. The absence of a deposit bonus is not a deal-breaker, and you value the flexibility to trade across multiple asset classes with leverage up to 1:200.
Not for you if
You require a broker with a local Thai licence or one that falls directly under FCA or ASIC supervision for your specific account. In that case, consider other internationally regulated brokers that offer an FCA-regulated entity for Thai clients – but note that those entities typically cap leverage at 1:30 for major forex pairs due to ESMA rules. Also, if you prefer instant funding via PromptPay (not currently supported by FxPro), you might want to explore other international brokers that integrate the national payment rail.
